And here are the other three items just added to inventory.

The next photo has two items in it.  To the left you will see three tall candle stands.  They have an original gold’ish finish and a very unique bowl.  It’s not flat like most candle stands, it’s actually a bowl.  It’s one of the reasons I grabbed them, (and the fact that I’m a sucker for candle stands).

There are three of them and as you can see they are slightly different heights.  They do have a metal (same finish as the stand) ribbon with holly berries on them so perfect for the holidays.  Being that it’s April, I will just turn that side to the back and pretend its modern art.  LOL

I’m not placing these items online so if you want them you will need to be local and pick them up.  Stands similar to these are running $35 to $55 each.  I have priced each at $19.95.

The item to the right (same photo as candle stands) is one of the cutest pieces I’ve seen in a while.  Some very creative person took what looks like an actual pair of children’s overalls and a pair of little tennis shoes and created this plant stand.  Yes, it looks like a real pair of overalls and shoes that have been dipped in, painted, sprayed, etc with some type of epoxy or something similar.  It’s very hard!  Makes me think they can be placed outside in the garden.

The greenery seen in the picture is just something I had laying around.  The plastic flowers that were in it were simple hideous.  What I am saying is they easily come out.  The overalls themselves are just sitting on this cute little metal chair so it to can either be used or discarded.

I have seen cloth versions of little kids leaning toward a fence and other cute little positions starting at $70.  I priced this little gem at $39.95.  WARNING, it’s not going to last too long.  I’ve already seen interest and it’s only been outside for an hour.

Yard Art and Candle Stands

Last but certainly not least is this really hot Caesar Salad Table Side bowl.  I looked them up online and guess it’s not as unusual as I thought.  I found three of them.  They started at $60 and went up from there.  Non the less I just love this one.  I have it priced at $35.95.  That’s if I don’t keep this one for myself!!!

John Wayne Decanter

Just back from today’s buying trip and found four interesting pieces, here is one of them.

For all you John Wayne Fans, I was able to acquire a early 1980’s John Wayne Decanter Mike Wayne Distilling Co. Kentucky  that once and may still contain Straight Bourbon.  The seal has been broken so there is no telling what might be inside.  Obviously the contents are NOT FOR CONSUMPTION.  Did you hear that Bob?  Don’t drink it if you buy it!!!

Name plate says: John Wayne American - Mike Wayne Distilling Co. 80 Proof Bardstown, Kentucky 750ML The decanter is in great shape could use a bath from being stored.  NO Cracks, Chips, or Repairs.  Sorry, there was no box.

WOW, 55 Incense Flavors in stock

It’s been a while since I last updated the list of Incense we have in The Attic because I have spent a good bit of my time pouring candles for our new candle line (Mountain Glow Candles).  I made so many that I actually ran out of the special wax we use for jar candles.

While I wait for the candle wax to arrive I updated the growing list of our hand dipped premium incense sticks in stock.  Just like perfumes, fragrances tend to fall in and out of favor thus limiting the supply of some scent oils.  I was pleased to see that the fragrances we have in The Attic have not changed all that much.  In fact we only removed two fragrances but added about ten new ones.

Here is a current list of 11” Hand Dipped Incense Flavors (that’s what I call them).  Keep in mind that you are reading this information on The Attics blog site and that this was written and posted on Friday 02/22.  Though the flavors don’t change that often, we do sell out quickly so don’t be disappointed if we are low on your favorite.  We receive oil orders every week or so.

Japanese Samurai Style Statue

This is an fun piece.  This large 14” tall standing Samurai Inspired (Fu Manchu’ish) Japanese Statue is incredibly detailed in its form and is painted in a rather realistic faux patina. This figure would be that perfect addition to an old world Asian / Japanese home or office décor.

HISTORY:
I found a few pieces of this at a local auction in Southern Colorado.  No additional information was available.

INTERESTING FACTS:
It is believed warriors and foot-soldiers in the sixth century may have formed a proto-samurai.
Following a disastrous military engagement with Tang China and Silla, Japan underwent widespread reforms. One of the most important was that of the Taika Reform, issued by Prince Naka no Oe (Emperor Tenji) in 646 AD. This edict introduced Chinese cultural practices and administrative techniques throughout the Japanese aristocracy and bureaucracy. As part of the Yoro Code, and the later Taiho Code, of 702 AD, the population was required to report regularly for census, which was used as a precursor for national conscription. With an understanding of how the population was distributed, Emperor Mommu introduced the law whereby 1 in 3–4 adult males were drafted into the national military. These soldiers were required to supply their own weapons, and in return were exempted from duties and taxes.
This was one of the first attempts by the Imperial government to form an organized army modeled after the Chinese system. It was called gundan-sei(???) by later historians and is believed to have been short lived.
AGE:  Uncertain, it is not dated

SIZE:  About 14” tall with a near 6” base.
